School Programs
YES (Youth Experiencing Success After School) - This program is provided as a service of the City of Porterville Parks & Recreation Department and Porterville Unified Schools. This program provides a safe place for your child to improve his/her academic skills, learn fun hobbies, have a snack and to play all free of charge. The program operates daily, Monday through Friday from the end of the school day until 6:00 p.m. All children from first grade through sixth grade may apply for acceptance into the program. Acceptance is on a "first come, first serve!" basis. Children that participate in the program are expected to maintain regular, daily attendance. Physical Education is a program for all grades that focuses on the health related benefits of daily physical activity. Students are provided knowledge and opportunity to establish a healthy lifestyle.
Music and Fine Arts is a program for all 4th - 5th grade students taught two days per week. Certificated instructors teach classes in vocal music, strings, band, fine arts, and crafts.
